Lotro Harvestmath Festival 2014

This was first published on Oct. 20th, 2014.

And here we go! This is my very first fall festival and while writing this I am not ashamed to admit that I am buzzing with excitement. Yes, here we are all very sad, sad people. So, let’s begin with quests, then we’ll move on to deeds and rewards. It lasts from October 21st to November 2nd.

Quest List
Quests in the Shire:
1. Harvesting the Crop
Rewards: Black Mushroom Pot (small furniture item)
Questgiver: Amabel Redfern
This is the follow up of the summer festival’s farming quest Planting the Seeds for Harvest. It should be noted that this quest is only available if you completed Planting the Seeds for Harvest. There’s not much to this quest. You just talk to her, then she gives you a mushroom pot.

  1. To the Horse-Races
    Rewards: 10 silver, 92 copper
    Questgiver: Baldo Mudfoot
This is one of those ping-pong quests. It exists solely to shunt you over to the horse races. What is funny is the hobbit scolding you for even considering going near a horse. I would love to drop this hobbit in the middle of Rohan.
  2. Troves and Trickery – The Shire
Rewards: Hobbit Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens
    Questgiver: Egbert Took
    Time Limit: 20 minutes
This is a fun one. You go around playing court jester to random hobbits near the Party Tree. A townsperson near Lobelia’s House wants you to /pick. It should be noted that when you perform these emotes you should target the person you are entertaining. Follow the road leading to Hobbiton. Just before you hit the sawmill, turn left. A farmer sitting by the stable would like you to /shiver. Cross the bridge and turn left again. When you hit a dock, you will see a fisherman. Throw a /tantrum to please him! Walk southwest through the town, and up the hill. You’ll see a gazebo. Sitting inside is your last victim. Erm, I mean … prank enthusiast. Just /burp at this one.
  3. The Delving Fields Fall Festival Run
    Rewards: 3 Fall Festival Tokens
    Questgiver: Carl Proudfoot
A horse race! This one has trees!

Bree Quests
1. The Bree-Fields Harvestmath Run
Rewards: 3 Fall Festival Tokens
Questgiver: Sally Threshing
A horse race. You know how it’s done.

  1. Troves and Trickery – Bree
Rewards: Man Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens
    Questgiver: Bryony Elmwood
    Time Limit: 40 minutes
First, head to Bree and run to the Prancing Pony. On the porch of a house just below the inn, there is a townperson who is in desperate need of a /whippitydo. That’s what you get for gossiping, you busybody. Moving on, continue down the road and turn right once you hit the boar fountain. Keep going until the road splits. Turn right. There will be a house and a man will be collapsed against it. /scold him and move on. Turn onto the left fork of the road. Turn right into Beggar’s Alley. Follow the curving road (don’t turn left) and you will come across a dancing man as soon as you turn the corner. This townsperson will be delighted if you /crazy him. Refreshing, considering that everyone else in Bree seems to hate jesters. Go to Bree’s South Gate. A woman will be standing by the entrance to the Auction House. Just say /no.
  2. The Pie Eating Contest
    Rewards: (name), Pie Eating Champion
    Questgiver: Humbert Sandheaver
As far as I can figure, gooseberry pies will take the least amount of time to eat while apple, rhubarb, and blackberry pies take a longer time.

Thorin’s Hall Quests
1. To the Horse Races
Rewards: 10 silver, 92 copper
Questgiver: Annar
Shunting you off to the horses again.

  1. Troves and Trickery – Thorin’s Hall
Rewards: Dwarf Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens
    Questgiver: Guthlag
    Time Limit: 20 minutes
First, leave the inn and go to the Hunter trainer. /mock the dwarf to make him even more miserable! Muahahaha! Move east until you go down a staircase and enter the Maker’s Hall. Keep going straight until you see the Novice Woodworker. Nearby, you will see a sad dwarf who needs a good /drink. Move deeper into the Forging Hall. Go straight until you see your next victim. Target. /flex for this fellow. Go to the tunnel leading to the inn and walk along it until you find a mining dwarf. He needs some music, so /whistle for him! All done!

Ered Luin Quests
1. Troves and Trickery – Duillond
Rewards: Elf Mask Token or 3 Fall Festival Tokens
Questgiver: Gloreniel
Time Limit: 20 minutes
Starting from the questgiver, take the roads right fork and go forward until you hit a tower. A lady would like you to /look at the view. Travel back across the road and take the right fork. Go up the stairs. Cross the bridge and go to the one-handed weaponsmith. Behind her is a guardsman that needs you to /hail him. Go back to the fountain near the stables. A musician needs someone to /dance for her. By the ovens an elf can be found in what seems to be a rare moment of weakness. He’s been sampling food, the bum! /eat along with him.

Events
1. In every festival location there is a mini-event where you pick something. In the Shire, there’s apple bobbing, in Bree you pick pumpkins, in Thorin’s Hall you pick geodes, and in Ered Luin you pick up a scroll. Turn these things in to the vendors near the respective, erm, picking things. Nodes. Whatever.

  1. Haunted Burrow Event
This is a whole quest chain! Start off by finding Opal Goodbody (near the party tree) and talking to her. She’ll start you off on a) A Cellar Door Appears. Once you’ve talked to Lobelia and the Gaffer, b) Bilbo’s Letter will begin. After prodding Lobelia for information a billion times or so, she’ll finally crack and tell you everything. this is possibly my favorite part of this quest chain. I just love mocking Lobelia. c)The Haunted Burrow will send you inside the haunted burrow. Turn right, and go straight to find her cowering in a corner. Go talk to Opal again and you may now enter at your own leisure.

The wiki has a wonderful map which I took the liberty of linking. Enjoy.Haunted Burrow Map
