Tentatively Official Post on Festivals and Patches

This was first published on Apr. 11th, 2015.

Welcome back everyone! After a long hold on writing (if it makes you feel any better, my other projects have suffered as well) I’ve finally gotten back into the swing of things.

And it’s a good time to come back. After, we’ve just had a new patch. 15.3 was a small patch, but that didn’t stop it from wiping out the servers for a good four hours. It was mostly dedicated to improving what we already have, which is something that I’m thankful for. There are two types of patches. Some add new content, and some improve things. You know, fixing bugs, improving music systems, stuff like that. These patches are what make games good. They just go ahead and polish things until everything is nice and shiny. It’s just so nice to see. Some games don’t have them at all (here’s looking at you Neverwinter Online) and seeing that happen just makes me want to give the devs a good, rough shake.

But we have more exciting things to talk about than different types of patches! For instance, our new events schedule!

The “Official: Spring/Early Summer Events schedule (Tentative)” is in! While I have many, many questions (Is this official or tentative? Is it officially tentative? If so, are the other tentative dates not official? Can it be both tentative and official, that would be tentatively official for anyone keeping track, and if so why isn’t this done more often? That way you could change dates as often as you’d like and no one would be able to say anything because it was only tentatively official anyways. Why doesn’t ‘schedule’ get a capital? That really should have a capital. Is there something wrong with Frelorn’s shift key or am I just being too picky?)

In April:

  • Lotro’s 8th Anniversary on the 15th to the 28th. Ooh, that’s this week, be sure not to miss it!

In May:

  • Hobnanigans is coming so ready your sticks for the 1st to the 3rd.
  • The Spring Festival is here! Pick some flowers from the 20th to June 3rd!

In June:

  • Hobnanigans again from the 1st to the 10th. There’s some overlap here with the festival, so we know the fields will be packed.
  • Lootbox week is running from the 12th to the 18th.
  • On the 19th to the 21st we get a 25% xp boost. Perfect time to level those alts.
  • On the 26th to the 28th we get a 25% crafting xp boost.
